Potted Orchid Care
Orchids do not like fluctuations in temperature, drafts or hot direct sunlight. Place in or near a north facing window if possible. Orchids like dry conditions so water only once or twice a week.
When watering, take care to avoid wetting the leaves. Also, keep water away from the point where the leaf grows out of the stem. After watering, do not allow residual or standing water to come in contact with the base of the orchid pot. The pot must have good drainage! If your orchid's leaves turn yellow and show signs of rot, hold off on watering for a few weeks.
After all the blooms drop off, your orchid will grow a new flower spike (in a month or so). New blooms should appear in 3 - 4 months. Remember that orchids grow very slowly so be patient.
